Tapestries of Nature I will be painting quite a few of these large, bold acrylics this year as I explore this particular approach. While my normal working size and shape in this style is a 30" by 30" square canvas, I am open to doing smaller or larger pieces, as well as horizontal or vertical rectangular canvases, on commission in order to better fit specific display situations. This series is well suited to public spaces or larger rooms where the art can be viewed both up close and at more of a distance. I find that this style and medium lets me give full attention to capturing both the subtleties and the dynamism of color and light in nature. Infusing areas with small, intense dots and splashes of more intense color gives a satisfying richness that softly blended color often seems to lack. At a distance, the colors meld together while still retaining an energetic glow. While not strictly pointilistic, this approach does make use of the same principles as that impressionistic method of painting.
